Elswhere on the site , we ’ve posted feedback from reader on the young iPhone 3GS , some of whom are upgrading to the new phone and some who are n’t . Put me in the “ are n’t ” group .
I have it away my iPhone 3 G and I ’m certain the 3GS is a courteous pace up , but I ’m flummox with what I have for now . And AT&T ’s upgrade pricing is only part of the reason why . At the destruction of the day , it ’s just not that compelling an upgrade for me to run out and get one .
I admit , I ’m a passably previous adopter for the iPhone . I was , at one time , a champion of the Blackberry , until mine conk out of warranty and circumstances dictated thatan iPhone upgradewas in order . That was the original iPhone , which I ’ve since deactivate and passed along to my wife — a firm Verizon client — who uses it as a personal digital assistant and periodic secret plan console . ( She ’s affectionate of Sudoku ) .
Last year I take an iPhone 3 gravitational constant , though I waitress a bite after they were introduce . So it ’s no surprisal that I ca n’t get a heavily - subsidized Leontyne Price on a new 3GS now — AT&T wants me to wait until March , 2010 before it ’ll extend that good manners . That ’s okay . I realize the terms of my service contract bridge with AT&T — I do n’t think I deserve a flashy iPhone 3GS just because I want one .
It ’s all just as well , because I ’m not reallythatanxious to get an iPhone 3GS , all thing considered .
The TV camera capabilities would issue forth in handy , for certain ; my minor do cute affair I ’d like to record , and I do find myself using the less - capable iPhone 3 G camera more and more for quick shot these days . But I have aSanyo Xactiat the quick for video , and I ’m pretty happy with that aright now .
Voice Control is nifty . In fact , it ’s something I ’ve want for a while , ever since I lose the power to call people using voice control when I moved off from Verizon .
The improved response time and program loading meter would be swell , for sure . The “ S ” in the 3GS name implies speed — something any ego - respecting gamer craves in every piece of hardware he owns . And this is , inarguably , the biggest attractor for me mighty now .
Already I ’ve heard from secret plan developers who say that they ’re looking at the 3GS ’s extra capabilities , such as its power to deliver OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics and its beefier computer hardware ( a faster central processor and more memory , fit in to reports ) . That will translate into game that will reckon well on the 3GS compared to the 3G. So the upgrade will , for me anyway , be inevitable .
But even with a subsidised price , I would n’t be run out to an Apple Store or an AT&T storage to bribe one at this moment in meter . Put together , the 3GS but is n’t that heavy a deal to make me want to get one flop aside .
I ’ve upgraded my 3 grand to iPhone OS 3.0 , and that ’s enough for me correctly now .
