Our Verdict
If you ’re a lensman or just plain snapshot - happy , you ’ve no doubt experience the dread of sorting through tons of exposure , deciding which to keep or trash . I get this feel every fourth dimension I return from a vacation or picture shoot , knowing that I ’ll need to go through hundreds of ikon one … at … a … time … in Photoshop . But withViewIt , I can but drop my camera ’s photos onto the ViewIt window , view and mark what ’s near with just a central press , and copy only those images to my Mac . Beautiful .
But that ’s not all it does . you could also sort simulacrum , imitate or move pic , einsteinium - mail moving picture , batch convert images to a particular sizing or file formatting , print contact sheet , create World Wide Web photo galleries , play a slideshow , batch rename files , and more . It does everything you take and then some .
The knockout of ViewIt lie down in the simplicity of its one - window interface and button controls for viewing ; other features are useable through menus . But the skilful part is that you’re able to control most functions with a fundamental jam , making watch and tagging even easier . Just drop one or more photo , folder of trope , or even your iPhoto library onto the window and ViewIt quickly makes them available for view , displaying JPEG , TIFF , Raw , PSD , PNG , GIF , and other pop image formats ( though I had no such luck with my Nikon NEF files ) .
One of my favorite things about ViewIt is that it read very little effort on my part to determine which photos to save or delete . I plainly press the spacebar to start a slideshow and then press out the M key on the keyboard to cross out each photo I want to keep . If I ’m not certain about the character , I compact the spacebar again to pause the slideshow , press the + key to zoom in ( and the – key to whizz along out ) , mark it or not , and then restart the slideshow . Once all images have play , I then copy all marked images to my hard drive for redaction .
My only beef is that I like there were a way to designate where impinging tabloid , Web pages , and convert file get salvage , as everything stop up littering my desktop . Still , ViewIt is light and quick , and decimate the repetitive strain I often have when screening photos . I will never go back to my onetime way or sorting and sifting pic again .
