In most respects , Apple ’s yearly quartet of new iPhones can be neatly divide into two set of identical twins . Last year ’s iPhone 15 and 15 Plus differ only by screen and body size and battery capability , and the same can largely be said of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max . But there are exception .
One feature that fix the 15 Pro Max apart from the rest of the range is its 5x visual zoom . The non - pro framework are limit to tricks to get to 2x because they have n’t got a telephoto lens system and even the 15 Pro is stuck at 3x opthalmic soar because the new Tetraprism lens is limited to the iPhone 15 Pro Max .
But the Tetraprism crystalline lens – so named because it reflects light four time before it hit the sensing element – won’t stay on a Pro Max scoop for much longer . Thelatest report(viaAppleInsider ) betoken that as of the late-2024 propagation , both Pro handsets will get this lens , and thus both will boast opthalmic zooms of 5x .
This is n’t the first time we ’ve heardthis rumour . And it seduce gumption in a draw of ways . Apple likes to bring out a feature as an exclusive for its most expensive product , but will then permeate them gradually down through the eternal sleep of the range . The Tetraprism was never likely to be limited to the Pro Max forever .
But it does raise one inquiry : Will anything replace the Tetraprism lens as the Pro Max ’s unique selling point ? We ’ll find out in September , but until then , you may keep with all the late news and rumour with our regularly updatediPhone 16 superguide .
