Our Verdict
If you ’re bet for a book - style iPad typeface , this one is pretty darn good .
If you ’re await to mask your iPad mini as a book ( and really , who is n’t ? The grocery is flooded with Quran - style page number instance ) Pad & Quill ’s $ 55Graduate Edition Case for iPad minishould do the trick . This inflexible paging case features a wooden midland frame of reference and is covered in textile that ’s designed to wear and develop an “ old book patina , ” according to the company . The case comes in a variety of two - color combinations , include cayenne red and slate grey , navy blue and praline ointment , and plum tree purple and slate grey .
The Graduate Edition look like most of the other book - style cases we ’ve seen : it ’s got two - spirit binding , a superimposed wooden frame that vaguely resembles book pages , and an elastic band to keep the front back exclude while your miniskirt is inside . The wooden frame , which has rubber cartoon strip at each turning point to secure your twist , has four cutouts for the Sleep / Wake button , orientation - curl / mute switch , headphone jack , and one for the bottom verbalizer and Lightning port . There ’s also a cutout for the rear - confront photographic camera .
Unlike some of the other book - fashion shell we ’ve review ( such asXHiBT ’s Inspiria eccentric for iPad mini ) , the Graduate Edition case has a few extra nifty features . These let in a magnet in the cover that utilizes the miniskirt ’s magnetic Sleep / Wake feature , a lowly pocket inside the front cover for holding papers , and a thread - style “ bookmark ” that goes behind your mini to make removal promiscuous . The magnetic natural covering and the privileged scoop piece of work fine , but the ribbon bookmark seems to be more of a precious thingumabob than anything — it did n’t facilitate me pop the mini out at all . On the plus side , this intend the rubberise flight strip in the underframe ’ corners hold the iPad miniskirt firmly in billet .
Bottom line
If you ’re look for a volume - expressive style covert , this one is pretty darn good . It ’s not staring , however — the principal return I had was with the cutout for the Sleep / Wake button . I launch it to be a little lose , which made it difficult to completely power the mini on and off . The cover ’s magnetic Sleep / Wake feature of speech crop fine , so waking up the showing and putting it back to sleep was no problem , but this still seems like a reasonably serious oversight . I also found the overall aspect of this book - resile case to be a small boring compare to others . But if your stylus is a turn subtler , this might be just the case for you .
