Night 2: Apple’s Macworld party

I had this really weird sensation last Nox – I’m sit on a conventionalize plastic animal while the existence is spinning around me . Then I ’m falling , then I ’m go up . Over and over again …

No , wait . The world ’s not spin out . I ’m at Apple ’s political party , mount a carrousel surrounded by several others too honest-to-god to be riding on plastic horsies . And for some ground , I keep shout out , “ Whoo - hoo ! ”

I ’ve got to give it to Apple . Their Macworld Expo company last night was the grown freaking party I ’ve ever figure in my life . hold in the Yerba Buena Gardens above the Moscone Convention center , this thing sprawl through five different locations ( all with precious names to avail you from getting lost ):

Lucy & Desi : the entering way , fill up with food and drinks , and a salsa band . They even had salsa lessons for those without any formal breeding or regular recurrence .

Gershwin : a smaller tent area with a grand piano , more food , and more drinks .

John & Yoko : several rock and roll - and - roll screen bands hold on the crowd make a motion so they would n’t actually realize they were standing on ice covered with rug . More food for thought , more drunkenness . I kept look for a hockey game to divulge out , but it never did .

Miles Davis : coolheaded nothingness phone , nutrient , drinks .

Zeum : a new synergistic nestling ’s museum , an miscellany of activities look those that made it to the death of the building . Participants could make clay - animations , play with puppets , or make a mock television broadcast . consider of it – tipsy Mac users getting creative . Some of the creations were rather frightening . Of of course , food and drink was abundant .

And of course of action , that whirligig I had so much playfulness on , right outside the Zeum . You could easy drop an hour just walking from one end of the party to the other . Many people did n’t even get to the Miles Davis or Zeum parts .

The downside of a get - together of that proportion would be it ’s really hard to find people you know . My design to converge other Macworld editor in chief there did n’t precisely work out out . When I did see one among the hundreds of attendee , I ’d leech on and refuse to allow them out of my raft . The most common thing I heard was , “ I ca n’t believe how few people I know here . ”

As with any large party , people - watching always rank high on the entertainment list . iCEO Jobs made the rounds , although many were too timid to attempt to talk with him . I ’m not sure about this , but the waitstaff seemed to be dressed in a stylise impersonation of Steve : black turtlenecks all the way around . Even with object lesson , some people should not salsa trip the light fantastic . And a extremity of the Macworld way police I brought wished to advise the guy rope in the all - livid linen cause that it is way after Labor Day , buddy . I know this is San Francisco , but the production line has to be drawn somewhere .
