Night 1: The Eddys

And the stars were out last night in San Francisco as the Mac community descended upon the Mercury to get their honor . A chic property if ever I meet one , the Mercury was dump out in crystal chandeliers , cd - get off tables , and enough snobby bartenders and chucker-out for any Hollywood gala . In attendance , the Mac elite group : from Apple to Microsoft to GoLive ( or is that Adobe ? ) , the minds that created the apps and computer hardware you play on everyday .
The Eddys is a combination award dinner / cocktail company , which results in a duality taht creates interesting collocation . While some attendees hold back uneasily for the next winner to be announce , others waitress anxiously for the next drink to be served . When the bartenders decided to close up the cake for a shortsighted clip , a minor rising fall out ( I may have led that charge ) and drink inspection and repair was restored .
As the event calls for a few award , I ’ll redact my votes for these ( you may show about the real Eddys award winner here ):
Best Line to Keep A Group From Being Invited Back Next Year : A radical from Microsoft who , after winning an award for Word 98 , said something like , “ We ’ve won our award , why are we still here ? ”
unspoilt Enthusiasm for pick up Their Name Mentioned as A campaigner : Vivid Details , for their product Test Strip .
Best Line Overheard in a Conversation I Never Should Have Been hear To:“I do n’t care for any human frame . No , give thanks you . ”
Best Place to Be:(Tie ) The back bar , before everyone figured out there was a back bar , and the entryway to the kitchen , because you had first picks at the food .
Best Drink I Had All Night : The red wine was n’t too spoiled .
good Appetizer : Some sort of seaweed sushi thing with soy sauce .
All in all , the party had its moments and its quiet . The general belief I overheard seemed to point that there ahd been better Eddys , and there had been unsound . I just need to give thanks that form bouncer for not kicking my ass , like he really wanted to .
