We love Apple products and we care the company would do more . On this episode of the Macworld Podcast , we peach about products we wish Apple would make . It ’s our regard list for Apple !
This is instalment 742 withJason Cross , Michael Simon , andRoman Loyola .
Roman’s wish: Knickknacks and routers
I end up talking about two products I wish well Apple would make . The first is keepsake tchotchkes . Apple ’s Infinite Loop campus used to have aCompany Storethat sold products , but it also sold items such as t - shirts , bumper stickers , pens , and more . It ’s not an significant product set at all , but Apple is one of a few companies with dedicatedfans , and these items are a fun way to express fandom . The Infinite Loop stock is now a even Apple Store , while the Apple Store at Apple Park does deal t - shirts , but nothing else .
The other product I care Apple would make is a mesh router . I would like to see Apple ’s take on it , but I realize that it ’s not a market place that ’s peculiarly full-bodied , and that the companies currently making product do a reasonably effective job . Apple would have to total up with something really different to support out , like bluster its privacy features.—Roman Loyola
Michael’s wish: Retro devices
While everyone ’s waiting for the next great Apple product to arrive — Apple glasses or an Apple car — I’m taking a cue from Apple and I ’m thinking a slight unlike . I need honest-to-god stuff .
As a sneakerhead , the most value released are Modern versions of retro Jordan or Nike sneak , and I ’d love to see Apple contribute that mind-set to tech . I ’m think of classic Apple production that still hold up : theiPod , thePower Mac G4 Cube , mayhap even theiSightcamera . But with new parts : consider an iPod with a Retina display and 256 GB drive . But my dream political machine would be aniMac G4case with a 24 - inch 4.5 K retina presentation , M1 central processor , and a Touch ID Magic Keyboard . Apple could even trim it up with the new iMac colouration if it want . I ’d buy two in an instant.—Michael Simon
Can you reckon this iMac with an M1 and a 24 - column inch 4.5 atomic number 19 display ? Michael Simon can .

Jason’s wish: Apple SoundBar
We ’ve articulate many metre that the Apple TV 4 K is the best cyclosis box seat but is too expensive ; we ’d choose a smaller , cheaper equipment with less memory that is meant to run only streaming apps rather than full - feature game and such . But we ’d also like to see Apple go in the opposite commission , combining HomePod and Apple TV into an Apple SoundBar ( HomeBar ? HomePod TV ? ) . We envision it as a subwoofer - less but otherwise mid - to - high tier soundbar that does Dolby Atmos processing . Sort of in - between a stereo pair of HomePods and HomePod minis . conflate that with an Apple TV 4 K and toll it around $ 800 , and you ’ve really have something .
A HomePod soundbar would be the shopping center of the living room , like the Sonos Arc .

Of naturally Apple would require to get a mint of thing right about features like eARC and handling HDMI input , because hoi polloi have mass of other gadget hooked up to their telly — game consoles , cable boxes , whatever . It would need to accept HDMI 2.1 stimulus , operation 3D audio , and pass high-pitched - bandwidth video along to the TV without any latent period .
But this may be just the trojan Equus caballus Apple needs to really make inroad in the life way . Sound bars are highly popular , as long as they cost well under $ 1,000 . With the acoustical processing Apple pioneered in HomePod , the company could deliver expectant sound without the sum disbursement of a wireless subwoofer . And if it justhappenedto admit Siri and the Apple TV 4 K hardware , the company might suddenly find itself in a lot of living rooms.—Jason Cross
