Holy moo-cow , it worked ! After read my colleagues’tales of woe — especially Jim Dalrymple ’s , as I ’ve done the same corporate to personal conversion as he did — I had grave fears about touch off my new iPhone . And unlike Jim , I had n’t be after this in forward motion , so I only transferred my account today . But I ’m getting ahead of myself …
As I mentioned earlier , I was in line on a study assignment today , and I thought I ’d be but buying one earpiece , and mailing it down to San Francisco . Well , about midway through the six - hour wait , I was given the news that I was to corrupt two phones , keep one for myself — it appears that I ’m to have some hand - on time with the iPhone to see if it overcomes my mass - unseen objection . So that ’s why I had n’t yet transfer my existing AT&T corporate design to a personal plan . I stepped out of product line for 15 minute , and AT&T talked me through the transition and assured me that it all await like it work .
I was in the third batch of people that were allow into the Apple Store , and was in and out with the phones by 6:20 p.m. or so . They were astonishingly efficient . After a agile stoppage at FedEx to direct one headphone on its mode , I proceed home with the other , still somewhat surprised I had one in my monomania .
After the requisite box initiative pictures — Dan Moren has already provide his — I connected the iPhone , fearing the worst . Amazingly , though , everything worked perfectly . My subsist earphone number was run over , I was told of the bring $ 20 fee for the iPhone plan , and after a very short wait of two proceedings or so , my iPhone reported back that it was activated ! Hooray !
Initial opinion are minimal , mainly because the iPhone is still synching songs , flick , and picture . However , two thing stand out immediately . First , it ’s really thin . I thought my Treo was moderately thin , but the iPhone make it look like a sumo wrestler by comparability . Second , the screen is plainly stunning . The video on Apple ’s site really do n’t do it justice . With a high Lucy in the sky with diamonds per inch counting , and vibrant colors , the images on the screen are truly gorgeous .
More later once I have some genuine hands - on usage time with the speech sound . But for now , we ’re now two - for - four on convey iPhones thatMacworldbought up and running .
