Last calendar week onYour Mac Life , Shawn King ask me why I was n’t more activated about theiPhone . At the meter I did n’t give him a very concrete answer , but the more I ’ve had meter to think about it , the more I realize — I’m burnt out . I ’m just really pallid and tired of try about the blessed affair , already .
mind , I ’m certain the iPhone is going to be corking — it ’s in all likelihood going to be dramatic . And if I was in the marketplace for a new phone I ’d certainly be wheel and dispense to get my hands on one without having to wait in the lines that are already line up up .
But you know what ? I ’m not . I bought a new sound less than a class ago , and I happen to be jolly happy with it . I ’m already an AT&T customer , so switching web is n’t an issue either . The bottom line is that own an Apple - made phone is n’t the be - all - end - all of my world .
Of of course , friends and family who know I ’m “ the Mac guy ” are asking me about the iPhone . Have I gotten my hands on one already ? No ? But I ’m going to bribe one the 2nd it come out , correct ?
Uh , not quite .
Do n’t get me improper — I’m often an early adopter . When the Intel switch happened , I made sure I got my helping hand on aCore Duo - equip iMacquickly , and I ’ve been very felicitous with it . When thevideo iPodcame out , same storey — I needed to get my hand on one quite chop-chop .
But for me — and I mistrust , for a mickle of us — having an Apple - made electric cell earphone just is n’t that all exciting . I ’m sure once I get my hand on one I ’ll think other than and I ’ll absolutely , positively have to have one .

That ’s what I thought about the Apple TV , too — another recent Apple ware that I ’ve been lukewarm to . Then I fix my hand on one , and I was unimpressed .
Maybe it ’s because I have an Xbox 360 , and Connect360 from Nullriver Software does passably much everything I would need an Apple TV to do . Maybe it ’s because being able to watch video recording from my computer just is n’t that vainglorious a deal to me .
Anyway , I ’m not saying I ’m particular . But I am beginning to recognise that I do n’t perfectly need to have every newfangled Apple - branded product that comes out , and that ’s distinctly different than how I used to feel . And I do n’t think it ’s because my taste have changed that much .
I think it ’s because Apple ’s market focus has changed . The more the troupe tries to appeal to a broad audience , and the more it diversifies as a modus vivendi brand , the more frequently it ’s bound to appeal to hoi polloi with modus vivendi different from mine .
What I ’m descend to bag with is the actualization that not wish every individual thing Apple score is n’t a betrayal . It ’s not a treachery on Apple ’s part , any more than it is a betrayal on my part .
That ’s not a bad thing . It ’s just dissimilar . I guess these days , both Apple and I consider differently — if you ’ll pardon the facial expression .
