If you ’ve kicked around with a Mac for more than a few yearsandyou read Macworld , you almost for certain have an AppleScript or seven that you rely on for sure impost feature article . I wrote a very simple-minded script many years ago to launch and quit various apps when I start work for the day and cease up . This arrival and exit script prevents some apps from continuing to pull in data or download material while I ’m away . ( Iwrote up this script11 yr ago for   Macworld ! )

If you flow AppleScript , you may have run afoul of macOS 10.15 Catalina or later ’s unexampled requirements for permission in running apps and system utilities . When you first advance to Catalina or subsequently , or whenever you install a new app , you may have to concord to let it keep in line sealed parts of your system . That includes sending commands to the Finder ( a simple click for permit ) or using screen - commemorate features ( permission yield via the Security & Privacy preference acid ’s Privacy tab ) .

Now when you bunk the hand , it should make without a hobble . If you still have job , check the Security & Privacy preference pane ’s Privacy lozenge under Automation . If your AppleScript app is there with an unchecked boxwood , determine it !
