The Hubbard Glacier is vast . Really Brobdingnagian . I especially like the 2nd one , which looked like some sorting of ephemeral animal mind floating past our cabin . And yes , the maitre d' did make a PA announcement , reassuring everyone that our Isaac Hull was reward to stand firm the occasional ice strike . And yes , this did absolutely nothing to hit the images ofTitanicfrom my idea ! But in all seriousness , the glacier was sensational , and on a sail later in the season , you would believably be able-bodied to approach more closely , making it even more fear inspiring . ( Or is that “ ahhhhhh ” inspiring ? )
We ’re now en route to Sitka , Alaska , where tomorrow dawn I ’ll do the unthinkable and go snorkeling in these glacial - stale waters ( current ocean temperature : 47 ° fluorine ) .
