A corking many more podcasters than you might imagine charge about the audio caliber of their work . And because they do , some would prefer to export their podcasts as uncompressed files rather than exporting them in a compressed format and then commute them to yet another tight data format .

Regrettably , GarageBand — a tool used by many podcasters — doesn’t put up an obvious way to do that . But there is a agency and in this short video I show you how it ’s done .

Download Macworld Video # 197

In the video I mention that , for the Macworld Podcast , we pop the question two versions — MP3 and an enhanced AAC version . The vantage of the enhanced formatting is that you may engraft connection and chapter marks , reach it easier for listeners to realise more information via World Wide Web links as well as rapidly voyage through the podcast .

As part of my workflow I first create an uncompressed AIFF version and exportation it to iTunes . I then convert this file to the MP3 interpretation . Yes , you could export directly from GarageBand to MP3 , but I opt to have a unobjectionable uncompressed written matter should I care to later employ portions of it for another project ( a “ heavy hits ” podcast , for case ) .

Or just point your best-loved podcast - savvy RSS reader to : the video provender .

This one is for the podcasters out there — specifically , those using GarageBand .

So , you ’ve enter your podcast in GarageBand and are quick to export it . You ’d care to do this in both MP3 and enhance AAC format as we do with our Macworld Podcast . But you ’d also like the best quality single file you may make , which means an uncompressed filing cabinet .

But look . Choose Share - > ship Podcast to iTunes and in the sheet of paper that appears your only pick are AAC Encoder and MP3 Encoder — both of which produce compressed files . The Export Podcast to Disk command is no good as it too bring out only compressed single file . So , what to do ?

There ’s actually an promiscuous — though hardly intuitive — fast one . Just travel to the Track bill of fare and choose Hide Podcast Track . When you do , the command influence as assure and shroud the Podcast raceway . But that ’s not all .

Take a look at the Share menu . GarageBand now believe you want to export a song rather than a podcast . Choose Send Song to iTunes and you now see a new Compress selection . Uncheck this and your podcast will be exported as an uncompressed AIFF file . The same thing goes for the Export Song to Disk dictation . Again , there ’s the Compress option . As long as it ’s off , you could export your podcast as an AIFF file .
