I ’ve kept paper journals in the past , but never stuck with them . Filling those vacuous pages feel too much like a job . Bloom Built ’s superbDay One(Mac App Store link ) get keeping a diary easier than ever , thanks to saucy features and a beautiful , welcoming user interface .
Clarence Day One
At every turn , Day One does its best to get out of your style and let you save . The app offers helpful ( if generic ) prompts like “ Do you have any favorite pets ? ” above each new entry window to get you going . These little nudge take away some of the insistency of the empty space below them . you may also fire off quick entries flat from an image on your menubar , if opening the app itself is too much of a trouble . daylight One can even gently remind you to write something ; just tell it what time of twenty-four hours , and how often you wish it to prod you .
you may sum up photos to entries , and chase them with keywords and your current location ( though that part ’s strictly optional ) . Day One even records your local weather at the clock time you ’re writing — though it now and again , inexplicably forgot to do so in a few of my entries . you’re able to strain through what you ’ve written not only by list or date views , but also via a map for geotagged entree .
mean solar day One permit you back up your daybook to iCloud , Dropbox , or the locating of your choice ; in my test , synching worked well after a few initial singultus ( Dropbox ’s fault , not Day One ’s ) . you may also share a diary across Day One ’s Mac and iOS versions . I like everything about Day One , specially its clean and refined design . This app deserves its many awards , and feels well worth its $ 10 cost .
