Why , oh why ca n’t I have it all in one gadget , Steve ? You ’ve put me — and many concerned buyers , I ’m trusted — in such a dilemma . The verbal description on theiPod classic Web pagesays , “ Decisions , decisions . Who require ‘ em ? Why should you have to choose what to put on your iPod ? ” Goshdarnit , Apple . The irony just toss off me .

iPod touch or iPod classic ? That is the question . On one hand , owning the iPod touch is like getting to employ theiPhonesans the phone — thus not having to pay a monthly fee . ( That ’s almost addressing the concerns I compose about in my web log post about why I was n’t grease one’s palms the iPhone ) .

But on the other hand , my iTunes library has tumefy to about 30GBs , and I bear it to get large . And I put my iPod to apply the most when I ’m on long road trips , so having my intact collection with me in my railroad car is just gracious . You ca n’t do that for me , iPod trace ! True , it ’s sleeker and has an improved TV screen , but those change are n’t compelling enough to make me desire to raise from my 30 GB 5th - generation iPod . Like I said before , the storage—80 GB in the $ 249 model or 160 GB in the $ 349 poser — is the iPod classic ’s most likeable factor , and you ’d want at least 80 GB in an iPod touch if you wish to take full advantage of its amazing video - playing capabilities . Argh . I would n’t plan on progress my iTunes program library up to 80 GB unless I owned an iPod touch , and increase computer memory alone is n’t enough to make me flip to the iPod classic !

cyberspace on an iPod could really come in handy . If I get lose on the route , I could look up a map . If I saw a restaurant I was shy about essay , I could quicklyYelpit . And I could always check my study due east - chain armor when I need to . The trouble is that it ’s not necessarily loose to find an opened internet , and not all internet let you just sign in from a WWW site . So in that way , it ’s like a lame version of the iPhone ’s Internet communicating capabilities .

Then again , I suppose in my early bit about the iPhone that I did n’t require to be on the net when I ’m away from the computer : I spend enough meter on the Web as it already is . The iPod touching would just be nice for those aforementioned scenarios when Ireallycould use the net , and driving around until I found an open connection is n’t that inconvenient , I suppose … And the best part about the iPod touch , compared to cyberspace - able headphone , is that its Internet is free , seize you could find a devoid connectedness . Plus , I ’ve been look into buy a Global Positioning System late , and those bunk for about $ 300 anyway . The iPod touch could be a nice substitute .

OK . Here ’s what I remember I ’ll do . I ’ll buy the 8 GB iPod touch and carry that around regularly so I can use the cyberspace when I postulate to . Instead of selling my 30 GB video iPod on eBay , I ’ll keep it in my car strictly for road trips . You deliver the goods , iPod touch . I ’ll be regard you after a few more paycheck .
